Sonys new broadband based "LocationFree TV" Wi-Fi media gizmo, that touts everything from watching your favourite television programs to multi platform internet uses, is getting a big thumbs down from USA Today tech critic Edward C. Baig. The reviewer states (among other things) that the portable wireless device is a clunker when it comes to surfing the web.
".......the browser in LocationFree is slow and limited. You can access Web pages by using an onscreen keyboard and hitting such shortcut keys as ".com," ".net" and ".org." But after entering a Web address, you must inexplicably press a "close" key rather than "enter," as you do on most PCs. Worse, I could not visit certain "secure" Web destinations, including my online banking site or the server on which I remotely access USA TODAY e-mail. The device may not be compatible with your e-mail account, either; I couldn't visit the Hotmail site."
The new age television contraption comes at a steep price considering it only has a 7 inch screen. It sells for $1,500 USD.
